A new year...

Wow! Time sure does fly! I can't believe that 2012 is already here, it's amazing how much faster time goes by when you have kiddos. They make life so much more. We are studying on how to be better parents in our Sunday School class and I have already learned so many things I could be doing better to guide my children to a life with and for God. It's going to be a great year, I just know it!
I have also become addicted to a little site that some of you might have heard of...pinterest. Yep, a full blown addiction. I kept on pinning all of these wonderful ideas and only actually putting a few of them into action. Well, no more! I have decided that I will complete at least one project a week for the next year. That my friends will be 52 projects! I'm am quite excited and skeptical but I know that if I stay with it I will be a much happier person when December rolls around. This will be called....
The Pinterest Project. Catchy, right? I hope anyone who reads this will be inspired to actually do things and not just think about doing them!
Here goes to starting the new year off right!
Have a good one y'all!

Sorry!

Hey guys, I know it's been a while since my last post but we've been very busy around my house redecorating Nathan's bedroom. It had always been a cowboy room since the day he was born, now he wanted it a rock & roll room. I'll post pics later.
Tomorrow I'm planning on posting a scarf tutorial, so be on the lookout!
Hugs,
Scarlett

Valentine's Treat

Since today is all about celebrating "Love", I thought I'd share a cute little treat I made for my men and some other special friends! Super easy project, takes only about 10 to 15 minutes. Go make some sweet treats for your sweeties...right now!
First up, the ingredients.
Pre-packaged rice krispies (talk about quick and easy)
popsicle sticks
candy melts or baking chocolate
SPRINKLES!
Now insert the popsicle sticks into the rice krispies
Bring a small amount of water to boil
I don't have a double boiler so I just use a stainless steel bowl to melt my chocolates, works like a charm!
Remove from heat. Add your candy to the bowl and stir constantly until melted. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate.
Dip your rice krispies into the chocolate about half way and place on some wax paper to harden. Don't forget to add your sprinkles!
Package each treat into a baggie or some plastic wrap and cutify it with some ribbon!
Enjoy with friends (or keep em all for yourself!) Hahaha! Happy Valentines's Day everyone! Muah!!!

Cookie Recipe

Ok folks, today I'm going to share my new favorite cookie recipe with you. I absolutly love the Great American Cookie called Chewy Pecan Supreme and since I don't get to the mall as often as I would like I decided to try and replicate it. First off, it is not exactly like theirs but I do think it is a good substitute. Actually, it is hard to keep them around this house. Most of us like them with the pecans but my boys don't like them, so we make half a batch with out the nuts. (Still super yummy)

Alrighty, time for some ingredients:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup shortening
1 cup quick oatmeal
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup pecan bits (we like to add more)

Mix the first 4 ingredients well

Add the remaining ingredients
We like to toast our pecans a minute before adding them...
Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet
Bake at 350 degrees until brown, about 10 minutes. Be careful not to over bake them, you want them chewy!
Yummyness!!!! I hope you enjoy these little goodies!
